Claude Provider

Explains how Skillset renders adaptive and Claude-native source into Claude provider output.

Provider id: claude

The Claude target renders project guidance under .claude/ and plugin bundles with a native .claude-plugin/plugin.json manifest as generated output. Adaptive source remains canonical source; Claude-only behavior belongs in explicit provider-native source or Claude-scoped overrides.

Provider Shape

Claude plugin manifests can declare native component roots for skills, commands, agents, hooks, MCP servers, LSP servers, output styles, themes, and monitors. Skillset renders skillset.listing.display_name as the manifest’s human-readable displayName for Claude Code 2.1.143 and later while preserving skillset.name as the component namespace and lookup identity. An explicit claude.manifest.displayName wins in the plugin manifest. For marketplace installs, Claude gives an entry-level displayName precedence over the manifest label, so claude.marketplace.displayName remains the narrower UI override. Executable helpers under bin/ are provider-native. Default plugin settings remain outside Skillset’s activation authority: a build may render definitions, but it does not enable a plugin or mutate live Claude settings.

Project agents render as Claude Markdown under .claude/agents/. Adaptive rule source renders as Claude rules, preserving path scopes where the provider supports them. Provider-native files remain separate from adaptive source so Claude-specific semantics are visible rather than presented as portable.

When enabled, the advisory project SessionStart command is composed into committed .claude/settings.json, not the per-developer .claude/settings.local.json used for other suggested hooks. It owns only its command-matched entry; it reports stale output without rebuilding or changing runtime trust. See Hooks.

For exact source and destination behavior, use the feature pages for plugins, agents, rules, hooks, and tools policy.

Evidence Boundary

Implemented provider claims are backed by checked-in destination-format snapshots, schema snapshots or manual overlays, and rendering tests. The generated table reports registry status; it does not replace provider-specific review when Claude changes a native format.

Skillset renders files. It does not install, trust, activate, symlink, or mutate user-level provider configuration. See Build Versus Activation.
